All ropes are delivered with Certificates. Offered plaited ropes are fully complaint with: DNV class programme DNV-CP-0100 – Type approval – Synthetic fibre ropes for towing, mooring and anchoring, EN ISO 10556:2009 "Fibre ropes of polyester/polyolefin dual fibres", OCIMF Mooring Equipment Guidelines (MEG4), Fourth Edition 2018 [test requirements] and OCIMF Guidelines for the Purchasing and Testing of SPM Hawsers (2000). Offered ropes can be delivered with issued by production MEG4 form Mooring Line Certificate and Mooring Line Base Design Certificate approved by DNV-GL.
LDBF value is clearly presented on Mooring Line Certificate which makes it easier to verify if correct rope has been selected according to IMO SOLAS MSC.1/Circ.1619.
Guidance: Ship Design Minimum Breaking Load (SDMBL) is the MBL of new, dry mooring lines for which a ship’s mooring system is designed, which meets standard environmental criteria restraint requirements. Ship Design MBL is the core parameter against which all the other components of a ship’s mooring system are sized and designed with defined tolerances. Line Design Break Force (LDBF) is the minimum force at which a new, dry, spliced mooring line will break when tested. This is for all mooring line materials except those manufactured from nylon, which is tested wet. According OCIMF MEG 4 & IMO SOLAS MSC.1/CIRC.1619 when selecting lines, the LDBF of a line shall be 100%–105% of the SDMBL. Owner / Ship Manager has to be however aware if Class Society is not imposing additional coefficient, increasing the required LDBF value for Synthetic Mooring Ropes for their vessel. Since Work Load Limit factor is different for Steel Wires and Synthetic Fiber Ropes, it is e.g. recommended by IACS in 5.9. of Rec 10 Chain Anchoring, Mooring and Towing Equipment – Rev.5 June 2023 to adapt SDMBL value for different mooring line materials and for it to be higher in case of mooring with Synthetic Fiber Ropes. Please follow rules of your Class Society or contact them for more info to prevent confusion.
